Spring /summer 14 make up trends

So January comes… The party is well and truly over and we’re feeling a tad bloated. …what next? …Spring/summer obviously! Thoughts turn to sunny days, holidays, festivals, tans and our dream summer bods.
So how about fashion? Seems a little premature to some, but there’s no harm in planning our spring wardrobes in advance, and the same goes for make up. Why not experiment a little…stay on trend. There’s no stopping you being ahead of the game and trying out some looks now if you fancy it.

Good news for ladies who don’t ‘do’ makeup…the barely there ‘no make up’ make up is bang on trend and set to stay. Get yourself some good concealer and a foundation which gives you flawless skin, and forget the blusher… just focus on bold brows & pop a little stain on your lips just so you don’t look like your trying to re create Tilda swindon’s look in the chronicles of narnia.
If you look more washed out than a raw, natural beauty then add a soft peachy toned bronzer and a slick of mascara, and don’t forget to curl your lashes to open your eyes up.

Although its practically a sin in the beauty world to leave your make up on overnight, this is how to perhaps create another key look! ( only joking, please always take your make up off! ) Think rock chick style, heavy kohl lined eyes. Demonstrated by the likes of Cavalli & missoni this look keeps skin fairly bare with heavy, smudged eyes. So don’t worry if your lines aren’t perfect…it’s in vogue!

Bright Hues….Its a case of either or when it comes to bright colours-eyes or lips…

Blue is huge this season, catwalks have opted for a light blue wash, or electric blue bold colours on the eyes. If some of the designer looks are too drastic for you, why not try a gold shadow and line your top lid with an electric blue colour, then line your waterline with black and add a pop of gold on the inner corners of your eyes for a gorgeous night look, which will look amazing with tanned skin. Greens and rich purples are also big news so experiment with some colours to find a look for you.

Orange lips. Very daring! If your not quite brave enough to go orange try a tulip red, and stick to lipstick rather than gloss to pull this look off. Team with minimal eye make up, just lots of mascara & try a white eyeliner on your waterline for a wide eyed look and keep a fresh face.

Last but certainly not least, my personal favourite look for SS14, is the golden goddess look. Perfect for teaming with the safari style fashions seen on the catwalks. This look is easy for you to try at home….think bronzed skin, lots of lashes and a peach blusher, and nude/clear glossy lip. To take this look from day to night, add a gorgeous metallic gold/bronze colour on your eyes (I’m such a sucker for gold eyes) to really get this look right you’ll need a good highlighter to accentuate your cheekbones, temples, cupids bow & on your chest. I love Bobbi browns shimmer bricks….they last forever!
